...the fun begins

video

i hear so many friends and fellow bloggers talk about how sweet the big brother or sister is to the new baby. that is not so much the case here. i was hoping to get a sweet picture of them playing but she was being such a monster drama queen that i had to get it on video.

happy birthday honey

george robert doesn't like cake so we made him some chocolate and peanut butter pretzels. mm wondered why we didn't sing to him, so we put a candle on there and sang to him. :)

video

mary martin made this for her daddy yesterday since he leaves for work before she wakes up. we think it really made his birthday happy. (as happy as it can be at 6:09 a.m.) she is dressed up like "abbastasia" (cinderella's step-sister anastasia; don't ask me why she wouldn't want to be cinderella) anyway...we wish our husband and daddy a very happy birthday, health, happiness and every good thing there is. he is good man...doing the right thing always comes easy for him, i really couldn't say enough about him. we love you to the moon and back!

all about me!

hi friends, it's william. first of all, i helped mary martin and mommy make these adorable scarecrow cupcakes for mm's school last week. i thought someone would offer me a little piece of candy or icing, but no luck.

my mom is always calling me "poor william" and saying how i am so neglected on blog time. so i'm just here to set the record straight. she does love me, and she does take up lots of time with me (especially while screamin' mimi is at school). my daddy does, too. everyone actually is quite fond of me. and just because i'm not ridin' rides and bakin' cookies or being hospitalized, doesn't mean i don't get attention. frankly i'm just biding my time....you know, bein' low maintenance, and sweet for now, so when i'm about 2 i can hit 'em with the big stuff...you know, have them saying things like, "he is ALL boy" and calling me things like "buster" and "bull in the china shop." i plan to make that lipstick stunt up there look like a cakewalk. so here are a few pictures of me..my mom says i am so cute now. NOW? i'll have to ask her about that... but i'm definitely a sweetie...everyone also agrees on that.

more fair fun

here we are after making it through the house of mirrors....
someone wanted to go down the purple swide.

doink. someone did walk right into a mirror... in her defense, it was kinda tricky. luckily we had a 7 year old boy to follow. :)

riding the hot air 'baboons' with daddy

b riding the bee boat with mommy

after all this riding we got a funnel cake and made it out before the rain got too bad. we did dip into her college fund slightly...just kidding, but i didn't realize how expensive the fair is! luckily it's only once a year. here is budders enjoying the fair. he is so sweet and doesn't care where he is as long as he is with his mommy. he did wonder why no one offered him a bite of funnel cake though! ...just wait budders, next year you can ride and eat all you want!

happy fall

we went with ju-ju to market day and the kitty cat fair in selma. mary martin had SO much fun. she rode cookie the pony first, and then several rides at the fair. she is usually such a scaredy-cat and she was terrified at first on the rides but ended up loving them. she calls it the kitty cat fair because last monday we saw a truck carrying one of the rides to the fair grounds. and i said, "look mary martin that's a kiddie ride going to the fair!" and later that day she said, "daddy! we saw a cadda-pidda on a tuck and it was goin' to the kitty cat fair!" so we are going to the mississippi state kitty cat fair if the weather will hold off. and i hope it does because it's all she can talk about!

mm's ordeal

abcess in lymph node...noticed it on saturday, golf ball sized knot on her neck and running fever. tried to treat with antibiotics, didn't work, wednesday the ENT admitted us to batson for surgery. she was so pitiful...just crying and we could tell she felt terrible.

thursday morning after surgery playing in the hospital playroom with her daddy...feeling much better. she would only have to be hooked up to the IV pump twice a day for medicine. she also got some medicine for pain that day, bless her little heart...

headed home friday! we were all SOO happy!

we bought sugar cookie ingredients the week before, but she never felt like making them and i kept promising her when she felt better we would make them! she held me to it about 3 hours after she got home! i wish i had a pic of her cookies...that post would be titled "what happens when you give a 3 year old a giant variety pack of sprinkles" thank you for all the prayers! we sure felt them. i can't tell you what all the calls, emails and fb messages meant to me. i guess the best way to describe it is that it felt like a cozy blanket when you're cold....the comfort of knowing all those people were talking to the Father on our behalf... we thank you all and each day mm and i are saying, "thank you Jesus for making me well!" ***and a very special thanks to both of mm's grandmothers for dropping everything and driving 4 hours to be with us. and missy for keeping (or should i say spoiling?) william ALL day wednesday. we love all 3 of you! (as well as the sweet friends who offered to keep william...does that offer still stand? haha)

william's baby dedication

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:4-9

happy birthday mary martin!

we made ice cream cone cupcakes to take to school
i think i'll have a little taste...mimi (missy walters) made my princess cake. and it was definitely fit for a queen.

mmmm...and it's yummy, too!

mm loved her princess party.

sweet william

look who's 3 months old! our sweet little chunky william is 3 months old and doing great. he is "officially" sleeping through the night (not like what the book considers through the night: 12-5) from 8 or 9 pm to 7 or 8 am. it is wonderful and i feel like i'm back to my old self again. he is such a sweetheart. very low-maintenance...i guess he realizes at this point he has no other choice given his princess-ballerina-opera singing-big sister. we sure do love you wittle buddy!

more fun...

a jimmy choo in the hand is worth 2 on the foot... quite literally in this case

mm at eliza kate kosko's wizard of oz party...she was glenda the good witch.

first day to stay for lunch bunch...she LOVES her lunch box. she held on to it all the way there and all the way home.

first day! she wasn't scared at all. she went right in and started playing.

the classic "leaving for the 1st day shot" ...doesn't everyone have a few of these?

time for school!

Mary Martin will start pre-school on Friday. She will go Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Today she had a meet the teacher tea party and she loved it!
here is mary martin's backpack and her lunch box that she will take when she stays for lunch bunch.
I tried my best to get her to smile while she pointed to her fish, but she was more concerned with trying to pull the net off the wall.

The giant monkey welcoming us..

saying the blessing (with a mouth full of cheese) before the tea party.

having fun exploring her new classroom. we'll post more on friday after the first day!

beach trip

visiting the summer breeze II, the charter boat of some friends of ours.

william looks precariously close to the edge, but it's an illusion, he really isn't that close. :)

mary martin and i went to the "real beach" one morning to play and guess what...she hated it! hated the sand, hated the waves, all of it. ..maybe next time. other than that we had a great time. i did a terrible job of photographing our trip, these are the only pictures we have!

ortho picnic

we went to the orthopedic department's annual picnic at the braves game last night and mary martin had such a good time. she had been excited about it all day. william had fun too. :)

6 weeks old

william is 6 weeks old now and continues to be such a sweet and good baby. we started some reflux medicine, but thankfully the reflux never made him fussy, i could just tell he was uncomfortable. and he is working on being a good sleeper. he has moved from the 55% in weight to the 83rd! this boy loves to eat! i wish i had zoomed this picture out because gus was curled up on the other side of the bed...so cute.

matching outfits...i'm sure i could go broke buying them. but i'm starting to realize there's not much point in matching outfits because i can't get a good picture of both of them!

4th of july...in our red, white and blue. mary martin has a mouthful of biscuit and has accessorized her dress with wings, necklace and bracelet.

going from one to two has been an adjustment. but we are managing ok. the main thing is that mm and i are used to being on the go. we both LOVE an outing, no matter what it is. and it is just too hot to get baby william out too much, plus i just worry about mary martin getting away from me in a parking lot or something. we did go to the mall the other day, and we did quite nicely. i think (hope) when mm gets a little older i won't worry about her so much in those situations. i have decided to join a gym with my friend missy so that will be a safe outing for all of us and give mm a chance to play with 'someone else's toys'...you know that's always more fun!

summertime

william, you may not be very enthused about the tractor now, but trust me, you are going to love them.

william, 1 month old, playing on his mat. or as mary martin calls it, his baby house.

someone insisted on wearing her winter coat today while it was 100 degrees. then she asked for ice cream...go figure.

a sweet treat for the sweet girl.

4 years and counting...

today is our 4th anniversary. we celebrated with dinner at tico's last night (thanks for babysitting, shari!!) which was delicious as usual. and tonight we will have our traditional chocolate strawberries and champagne...that's what we had the first night of our honeymoon. i'll spare "all" my readers the mushy stuff...but we are very happy and very blessed. :)

sweet william

it's so hard to get a cute picture because of the floppy head. :) but i promise he is a cutie!
snuggling with mommy and mary martin

all 3 of our children. gus hasn't missed a beat, he is probably excited for an additional plate to lick in the near future. and mary martin is beginning to like william. if you ask her if she loves him she will at least say yes now. and if he cries and i'm not in the room, she will bring him a stuffed animal or a toy. it's pretty cute.

william is still doing great and we are feeling very blessed. he is eating and sleeping very well...only up once in the night! usually at 12 or 1 then again at 4 or 5, which is still kind of night time, but i used to get up at 5 every day for school so i'm giving him a break on that one. :) plus i get to go back to sleep until princess mary martin wakes me up between 7 and 7:45.
we went to the pediatrician for his 2 week check-up and he is in the 67% for weight, 57% for length and 52% for head circumference...we are excited to be on the chart! mm didn't even make the chart until she was about 13 months old! yes, as in 0% (or 100% of children are bigger than she is) so this experience continues to be different and wonderful! not that we would trade the first one..that's probably why this seems so much easier.

happy birthday sweet william!

introducing
william whit booker
may 26, 2009
8 pounds 10 ounces
19 3/4 inches
7:45 a.m
proud daddy and big sister (she is actually not very proud of him right now...she doesn't really want anything at all to do with him. but we know she will come around.)

....it's okay if sister doesn't like you. your grandparents all sure do love you!

i am updating my blog from my new laptop! george robert surprised me with it this morning. everything went extremely well yesterday and i feel really good today. and william is just doing great! he is such a big boy...i am so surprised. i never thought he would weigh that much! mary martin did not hit the 8 pound mark until she was about 5 months old! but so far, in his first 36 hours, he is so sweet and good natured. this pregnancy and delivery from week one to week 39 was so different from the first one, and i know it is because of all our friends and family who were praying for us along the way. thank you all so much. i'm sure we'll have lots more pictures to share in the next few days.

she's a regular genius!

kickin' back with the us weekly. she likes to read a little fluff here and there, then move on to more serious reading... see below.
this is what i found when i came into the living room saturday morning. yes, that's "handbook of fractures" and she had made it all the way to page 96. she was reading up on condylar fractures since they are far more common in pediatric aged patients than adults....funny, that's what her thumb was pointing to when i peeked. i have never seen that book before, i know it's her daddy's, but i have no idea where she found it. in other news, mary martin's baby brother should be here for sure on may 26th if he doesn't come on his own before then. don't worry, he won't. so it looks like our next blog post will be announcing baby brother! unless of course mary martin proves string theory or splits an atom in the meantime. :)

my talented brother

my brother has been working for Southern Living for a while now and you'll often see his name on certain features, i.e. Styling by Scott Martin. but this is his first cover! we are so proud of him! he has such an eye for turning ordinary things into something beautiful. we can't wait to live closer so he can do that to my whole home and yard whenever he pleases. :) oh, and of course babysit, too. we love you!

Some blog-time for Gus

here is mary martin riding about 25 feet in "daddy tuck" without a carseat. it was truly the highlight of her day.
we had gone out to the country to watch daddy and gus get their ribbons. gus passed his "hunt tests" and is now a senior hunter. (don't ask me what that means, i really don't know. i just know gus is my sweet puppy and personal vacuum cleaner, but i'm proud of him all the same)

apparently when a dog receives a "title" the "handler" gets a cooler of water dumped on his head. so we couldn't miss that! mary martin was not too sure about all that commotion, and she kept saying, "daddy all wet!" but we had fun sharing the excitement and we're proud of our "gu-gu-boy" that's what mm calls him. :)

Happy Easter!

mary martin (or mini-mottin as she calls herself) had a great Easter. she loved her basket and all the "chockit"...she especially loves her mika-pone (microphone) so she can sing like "annie" from little einsteins. she says its sooo cute and spark-a-dee (sparkly). the bunny didn't bring too many toys because the bunny knows we are running out of room in this house. it literally can't hold anything else. to that end, sweet william can't have any toys until we move to birmingham. :) luckily he'll only be 1 when that happens, so will he really even know?
i found these baskets and loved them, so i decided i better go ahead and get william one in case we didn't find them again next year. so the bunny filled his with useful things, including my favorite..a little blue doggie canvas!

i really wanted some pretty pictures of mary martin in her gorgeous dress. but naturally, she would not stand still. this is actually her dress from last year that juju gave her. but my mom added a row of puffing and lace to make it longer. and i think it makes it even prettier.

waiting on mommy to put me in the car. it broke mommy's heart to cram all my lace and ruffles into the carseat.

i sit myselp. she loves to sit on the doorstep..and she always says, "i sit myselp" when she does it. i think she must feel big sitting there by herself...but who knows. she's a hoot. monday when we got home, george robert was home and she started screaming "daddy home! daddy home!" and i said, yea! let's go see him, then she said her other favorite phrase. "daddy home....sooooo cute!" everything she likes is 'sooooo cute'
* we did sing my favorite Easter song at church this year! i was bummed last year when we didn't sing it...it made me homesick and nostalgic. but this year we got to sing "up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes....He arose, He arose, Hallaleujah Christ arose!"
