Baby News...

We confirmed on Monday that Baby Booker is a BOY! We are really excited. Now we have to start all over with "blue stuff!" I ordered him this bedding:
http://www.javisdavis.com/designstudio/studio.php?collection=40&g=1&bump_out=0267&bump_in=0267&bump_welt=0701&bump_tie=0701&sheet=0540&skirt=0267&pleat=0701

since MM's watermelon pink and white just would not do! Even though my hubby suggested we just turn the monogram upside down since his initials will be WW....surely he was joking. I'm trying to get things done more quickly this time since our first little pumpkin surprised us almost 3 months early! Plus my "sweet and caring" radiologist reminded me I have a 50% chance of developing preeclampsia again. So I reminded him that I had a 50% chance of NOT developing it again! I'm a glass-half-full kinda gal. Anyway...we are thrilled and can't wait to meet our little one.

Merry Christmas!

Santa really outdid himself at JuJu and Papa's house!

Jingle Bells!

mary martin participated in her 2nd ridgecrest Christmas program today! this year she did NOT lose her bells, and she did great. She sang and jingled and danced. i had to video and take the still pictures, so none of them are too great. all her friends "checked out" after the play, so i didn't have the heart to leave her there (plus she was stuck to me like velcro!) so.....
she got to go to 1st grade for 20 minutes! kids dismissed at 11:00, so she wasn't in the way at all. i don't know who loved who more...the kids or mary martin. it was really sweet. that's our neighbor elizabeth next to mm...mm adores her 'bizzybus'

juju, mm, and i went to the zoo in montgomery last saturday. and boy was it COLD! mm liked the giraffes... we're gonna go back when it warms up a little. they turned a million lights on at dusk, and she liked that too. we skipped the train ride through the light display because we were freezing! but we still had fun.

Christmas in the air...

Our Magic Elf, Cookie, came to visit this week. She is one of Santa's elves who comes to visit MM every year. If you sprinkle these North Pole magic snowflakes on her she will come to life at night and get into all kinds of mischief. Magic Elves also like crackers and water. :) We'll try to make some pictures of some of Piper's shenanigans.
Christmas card pictures Take 2.....aaaahhhh. We finally got one. Not this one. But the fairy doll's behind is in it. Oh well. What's ever perfect when a 2 year old's involved?!

Sweet Gu-Gu has his own tree in the kitchen filled with doggie ornaments and bones. Notice the angel's head is a black lab. :) Mary Martin is very excited about "Kiss-us" and loves to sing Happy Birthday to the tree. (the lights apparently remind her of candles). She found a gift Santa left early, too! She's wearing it as we speak. Santa's going to have to do a better job at hiding those early gifts!

happy thanksgiving

George Robert's Nana, mm, Papa, JuJu, and GR
"yum!"

"whew, what a day. we're stuffed."
A Thanksgiving post ...Just in time for Christmas! George Robert had to work on Thanksgiving morning, so the Bookers came to our house. We had the best time and Mary Martin loved having them at her house. We have so much to be thankful for. I got a little email forward and it was about a man touring all the "busy departments" of Heaven. He saw all the angels feverishly working and then they came to a room where two angels were just sitting around. He asked why this area was so slow and unbusy. The tour-guide answered, "This is the acknowledgements department. We get SO many requests in the Prayers Department, but we hardly ever get any acknowledgements back." A little simple (and corny) ,but sometimes simple is just what I need. I feel thankful every day, but how often to I fail to tell God how thankful I am? Too often, but getting better.

Guess What!

"Hey, Gu-Gu! Guess what! We're getting a baby bwudder!!" or sister, but I asked her which she wanted and she said baby bwudder. So coming late May 2009...Baby Booker #2! Notice our new baby ticker on the right. We will find out for sure brother or sister in mid-December. Either way, we just pray for a healthy TERM baby with no pre-eclampsia or HELLP syndrome. And we appreciate all of your prayers as well. So far I am not having the complications I did the first time..which began at 5 weeks. Can I just give God a little shout out one more time? Mary Martin is a miracle! Thank you!!! Thank you for keeping Your Hand on her and bringing her home safely to us. She is just joy personified....a blessing to our whole family. If Baby #2 is half the blessing (which I'm sure he/she will be) then our cup will surely runneth over.
Sidenote: In case you are wondering why in the world I have pink Uggs....let me just say they were on MAJOR sale because no one else wanted them. :) But they have not been seen on my feet in public and they are THE most comfy house slippers ever. Plus 4 years ago I thought, "hmm, one day I bet I'll have a little girl and she'll LOVE playing in these pink boots."

This little piggy...

did not like her costume! This little piggy did NOT want to go trick-or-treating! Until we met up with Cailin, Riley and Ryan (our friends and neighbors) down the street. She was so unsure at the first house (I walked up with her) but then she watched the other kids and by the 3rd house she had it down, then she strutted up there all by herself. The pig hat was a definite NO and the hooves didn't last much longer. But all said and done she had a great time and we did too. She got lots of "canny" which she won't even eat, but is for some reason so excited about. And she looked hilarious walking in the pig suit with the padding, she looked like George Jefferson. you can click the collage to see it bigger. :)

adventures

we went to the fair on sunday. mary martin rode the carousel and we got a chicken-on-a-stick, a funnel cake (both so yummy) and 2 icees...that was all for this year. maybe more rides next year.

she FINALLY started trying to wear my shoes! i knew this day would come. she tried on at least 4 pairs until she found just the right one. yes, she has pacifiers stashed all over the house. there's no way to take them all, she just finds a new (old) one.
hangin out with my daddy...and my doll.
here is mm modeling her dress that uncle scott brought her from nyc. (and the t-shirt above) notice the cheeto stains on the beautiful dress and face. AND the elmo barrette. hehe.

The Elmo Bash...

We had Mary Martin's party at Pump It Up with just few of her little pals and lots of her "grown-up" pals....like her grandparents and Hollie, and Mimi (Missy) & Jack. Plus some of my sweet friends from school! We tried to do "Elmo-chic"...Address to Impress did the invitations and treat toppers (click the collage to see it bigger) and Dream Cakes did the cake. It was beautiful and yummy! Mary Martin had a BALL jumping and going down the big slide. She loved trying to do what the bigger kids did. She still doesn't quite get the whole present thing... the first thing she opened was a baby doll bottle and and she got so excited! But then that was it...she just walked off with her doll bottle and left ME to ooh and aahhh over all her neat stuff.... which she is still having the best time with. Thanks to EVERYONE who shared our special time! We loved it and we love all of you!!

Happy Birthday Bebe!

Friday was Mary Martin's 2nd Birthday! We wanted to take her somewhere so they could sing to her and make a big fuss, so we went to Margarita's. She wasn't too sure about the singing and cool whip on her nose, and the giant sombrero was a definite NO, but other than that we had a big time. Below you will see why I thank God every day with a debt of gratitude words cannot express. This was our baby girl September 19th, 2006. At 2 pounds, with wires and monitors covering almost her whole face, I still thought she was beautiful..... Cut to September 19th, 2008...we made Elmo cupcakes to take to her school, and she is just a walking, breathing miracle...a perfectly healthy little girl who loves Elmo, outside, Cheetos, dolls and dogs. Little did we know that God had BIG plans for this LITTLE girl. oh the joy.....

grandparents' day

Mary Martin with JuJu (left, George Robert's mom, and Dede (right, my mom) mm & juju
mm after church
Grandparents' day was September 7, and JuJu and Dede BOTH came almost 4 hours to have muffins and punch with Mary Martin at her 'school' so she wouldn't be the only one without a grandparent there. Turns out she was one of the only ones WITH a grandparent there...but they all had a wonderful time. And MM really did feel special having them here. It was like she knew they had come just to see her. The gradfathers both had important work things and couldn't come, but we all know how they feel about her. oh....to be so loved.

the big 3-1

friday the 29th was my 31st birthday. it was great! thanks to anelyse, christina and the other sweet girls i work with for the chocolate donut & diet coke party... and jack and missy for going to tico's with us for dinner. getting older doesn't really bother me...because if being 31 means i get that funny little bow-head sticking her fingers in my birthday cake and the handsome fellow taking the pictures, then i'll take 31 over 21 ANY day.

new rides

well first just a snapshot of mary martin after raiding the bottom drawer of my jewelry box...and making her "cheese face"....yes, we're still on that.
she has been fascinated with "gu-goos" aka bicycles for a few months now. and i kind of forgot about our bicycle we got last year because she was still too small for it. so we got it out this week, and she LOVES it. we cruise around the block every afternoon.

George Robert and Mary Martin posing in front of the other new ride...the pick up truck. We all love it, and we're still so thankful that he is ok!

the wreckage

this is not even the side of the car that got hit. i didn't even think to photograph it from the opposite side. now i know why he kept saying "don't worry, im fine." he knew someone was coming to get me and was trying to prepare me. isn't it amazing that he is okay? It brings to mind Psalms 121: 8 The Lord watches over your coming and going. Isn't that the truth!?!? George Robert's statement for the blog is this: Wear your seatbelt.

This Sunday's Lesson Is...

Life is precious. My sweet husband was driving from the hospital to church to meet us when a car "t-boned" him at the intersection of State St. and High St. His Yukon flipped at least 2 times he said, and landed upside-down near the sidewalk facing the opposite direction. My phone was on vibrate from Sunday School and I felt it, thank the Lord when I picked my purse up. I called him back expecting to hear, "Rounds are taking longer and I won't make it to church." But he said, "I had a wreck, but I'm ok." He kept saying I don't want you to worry...so that MADE me worry! He was right at the end of the block from our church, so I ran (in heels) up there and was amazed at what I saw. He was standing there but he was pretty shaken up. He crawled out of the back window and escaped with minor scrapes. He had glass in his fingers and leg, which he insisted on removing himself. At one point I saw him kneeling down checking out the other guy's knee! Since the accident was basically in front of the church, many people we know and didn't know stopped to help us-and we are so THANKFUL! We went to the er to x-ray the hand, and it was ok. Please pray there won't be further complications. They usually do a chest x-ray, blood pressure check and some other test for the head, but he wouldn't do any of those! Most people don't walk away from accidents like that, and I am just so grateful. Words cannot express how thankful we are to God that His hand was on George Robert. The Lord has brought to my mind this verse all day- God is good and everything He does is good. Ps. 119:68. I took a picture with my camera phone, if i can figure out how to get it out of there, i'll post it.

not necessarily news...

mary martin finally decided she likes m&m's. wouldn't it have been a waste of initials if mm didn't like m&m's?! crisis averted. btw: that's an elmo juice box all down the front of her outfit.

here we are off to combine some corn. she was determined to climb up there with or without me, so i thought i better supervise. she loves "da-toos" but until last weekend she never wanted to get in one, so papa better get ready, he's gonna be takin' this little girl on quite a few rides!
"Gimme the keys, I'll drive!"
this is mm's new "cheese face" she does anytime the camera comes out. she squints her right eye
close-up of cheese face. or should i say m&m face.
I also found a solution to our pen problem! I don't know if I've mentioned it, but Mary Martin is crazy about all manner of pens: sharpies, crayons, you name it. We try to take the ink/writing part out, and she is usually satisfied to walk around with that. But today in Target, I saw a tiny etch-a-sketch! She LOVES it. She wanted to sleep with it but I was afraid she'd strangle herself with the little magic pen on a string. I know, probably only a temporary solution, but i can always hope!
